Home Articles Surviving The Bank Witch Hunt on Porn

bank2

There has been a lot of noise recently about how certain banks and billing platforms have apparently been closing accounts held by adult entertainers. Their vague excuse is that these types of accounts are “too risky”.

This is not a new subject. It has happened before with lots of other adult related business and billing platforms, and it is usually the same line of BS.

I find it absolutely amazing that the same banks are now happily seeking and open to doing business with the new marijuana industry, or industries that destroy the environment and fund wars, but not to anyone in the sex industry. When you think about it, which one results in more new tax payers, future sources of interest generating income and monetizeable debt?

Or maybe it’s because nobody pays for porn anymore? (or so the adult industry says…) I have consulting clients that make multiple 6 figure incomes who would beg to differ… but anyway…

Oh the money is there all right, so what’s the real deal?

Well, at this point I can only speculate, but I am certain that it is not the bank’s fault. History has proven that they will do anything if there is money to be made. The real culprit is something much higher up the chain, and is buried deep in a soupy hole of politics, morality and other, much more sinister motivations.

Typically these types of witch hunts in the adult industry happen every couple of years and if you dig up the political chain high enough it is caused by someone trying to use the porn card to rile up the puritanically militant voters in America to get reelected. It’s a great strategy that works pretty much every time, because we live in a country that perpetuates paranoia, hypocrisy and fear of our shadows.

Porn is the ultimate boogie man because it is one of the only taboo subjects left that can still make both conservatives and liberals uneasy.

In the mean time, until that monster shows it’s ugly head for what it is…

Here’s Some Advice:

The good news from all of this repression is that it creates a constant demand. The more sex is repressed and banned, the more people will pay out the nose to get it, have it, see it, and keep it a secret. The more it is vilified by the media and religion, the more people will rebel against it and peruse it at any cost.

Yes, it will remain difficult to complete the transaction for the short term, but where there is an addiction, there is plenty of money to be made by being the drug.

If you are an adult entertainer, some keys to survival are:

  1. Don’t panic. Don’t get discouraged nor take it too seriously. This happens all the time and is just part of doing business as an adult entertainer. You and I both know that the people that pay you also include the same bankers and politicians who are trying to make your life difficult. Bankers and politicians need sex and porn too, so I have a feeling they will keep their addictions accessible, regardless of the policies they claim to support.
  2. Keep your shit low key. There is no reason to go running your mouths off on Twitter or wherever about what banks you use. Stay low on the radar and wait for the storm to pass.
  3. Diversify your financial platforms. Don’t rely on just one bank or billing platform. Have multiple bank accounts, spread your wealth around, stay out of digital funds and high on cash, invest in tangible items, explore virtual currencies. Always stay informed about what is happening in the industry and in the financial world. Join a lot of mailing lists, alerts and keep up on the news.
  4. Move Your Money Around:  Have two bank accounts at all times. Use one for adult related deposits and immediately transfer it to another bank that is free of all adult transactions. This way if the adult deposit bank shuts you down, you always have the other as the safety net.
  5. Control your line of communication with your customers. If one bank shuts you down, stay in control of being able to communicate the alternatives to your customers. Build your sales funnel and grow your mailing lists. This is imperative for your business survival and success.
  6. Write your local politicians and educate your customers: Who knows? Chances are that your customers are themselves, politicians and lawyers. If what you do is legal and you pay your taxes, then what the banks are doing is discrimination and a potential civil rights violation in the making. Finding a champion to fight for sex worker rights is a tough one, but it’s happening slowly.
  7. Diversify your business opportunities. There are plenty of ways to use your adult skills in non adult ways. Sex sells all kinds of things. Maybe it’s time for a change of approach?

The Revolution will be Monetized.

Cultural and sexual revolution will happen. Maybe not overnight, but there are rumblings and change is happening, albeit slowly. There is simply TOO much porn out there to ignore it and I personally know that my clients are making bank with it. I consult with them on how to do it and I see the results. They just have a hard time finding a bank for it… for now at least.

All I can say is that “someone” out there is eventually going to start a bank or some other alternative soon, that is going to make a shitload of money off of an already profitable existing business model. It is bound to happen. There is simply too much money sitting around to let it all go.
(Lets just hope they also don’t become the only pimp in town and rape us all for 40% like most of them already do. And you know who you are…)

Until next time, stay classy humanity….
